Uniora CIC — Together We Rise

ABOUT UNIORA

Together We Rise

Reducing disadvantage. Creating opportunities for children, young people and families.

Our mission

Uniora CIC exists to reduce disadvantage and improve opportunities for children, young people and families in underserved communities. Our focus is on children aged 6–15 and families facing financial hardship, social isolation, digital exclusion or barriers to education, activities and support.

We aim to provide accessible, inclusive community support through education, digital inclusion, mentoring, positive activities and practical guidance. We believe a child’s circumstances should not limit their opportunities to learn, build confidence, form positive relationships and fulfil their potential.

Why our work matters

Families can face several connected challenges: financial pressure, educational disadvantage, limited access to affordable activities, digital exclusion, isolation and difficulty finding the right support. These pressures can affect children’s confidence, participation, engagement with learning and experiences outside school.

We aim to offer early, practical support that responds to local needs, helping children and families access opportunities before difficulties become more severe.

Opportunities for children and young people

Our programmes will provide safe, inclusive and positive environments where children and young people aged 6–15 can learn, take part and develop. Depending on community needs and available funding, activities may include:

  • Homework clubs, educational support and learning activities.
  • Digital skills, coding and technology programmes.
  • Online safety and responsible use of technology.
  • Mentoring and access to positive role models.
  • Sports, arts, creative and recreational activities.
  • Confidence, communication and leadership development.
  • After-school and school-holiday programmes.
  • Life skills and personal development.
  • Activities that broaden aspirations and introduce future education and career pathways.

These programmes will be designed to strengthen confidence, skills, participation, social connection and engagement with education, while opening up positive opportunities.

Supporting the whole family

Children’s progress often depends on support for the family around them. We will offer parents and carers accessible information, practical guidance, community activities and connections to local and specialist services.

Where a family’s needs fall outside our expertise, we will work with and signpost them to established organisations equipped to provide specialist help.

We also aim to help parents and carers build digital confidence, understand online safety and take a more active part in their children’s learning and development.

Reducing digital exclusion

Digital exclusion can add to the barriers families already face. We aim to improve access to digital skills, technology education and safe online participation, helping young people become confident, responsible users of technology and giving parents and carers the knowledge to support them.

Where resources and partnerships allow, we will also seek to improve access to devices, connectivity and digital learning for families experiencing digital exclusion.

Shaped by our communities

We will listen to children, young people, parents, carers, schools and community partners to understand local needs and shape our programmes. Their feedback will help us respond to community priorities rather than assume what families need.

We will seek to remove barriers to participation wherever possible, so children and families who might otherwise be excluded can take part.

Working in partnership

Lasting community change takes collaboration. We aim to build partnerships with schools, local authorities, charities, voluntary and community organisations, youth services, businesses, funders and volunteers.

Together, we will strengthen existing community provision, connect families with appropriate services and develop additional programmes where needs are not being met.

Understanding our impact

We are committed to using funding to create meaningful, measurable benefits. Depending on the programme, we will monitor:

  • Participation and reach: how many children and families engage with our services.
  • Access and inclusion: whether we reach families facing disadvantage or barriers to taking part.
  • Skills and learning: improvements in digital, educational, communication or practical skills.
  • Confidence and wellbeing: changes in children’s confidence, sense of belonging and willingness to join positive activities.
  • Family engagement: parents’ and carers’ participation in workshops, activities and support programmes.
  • Progression and opportunities: whether participants move into further learning, community activities, mentoring or other positive opportunities.

We will use attendance information, feedback from participants, parents and partners, surveys and appropriate outcome measures to understand what works and improve our programmes.

Our vision

We want communities where every child and family feels welcome, supported and able to move forward. Financial hardship, isolation, limited access to technology or a lack of opportunities should never stand in their way.

We want children and young people to have safe places to spend time, trusted adults to turn to, and opportunities to learn, enjoy new experiences and discover their potential.

By offering support early, listening to our communities and working with local partners, we aim to help families grow stronger and young people build confidence. Together, we can create communities where people feel connected and supported through life’s challenges.
